Novell Netware Patch 312PT8 and File Corruption

Revelation Software has reviewed information from Novell regarding the 312PT8 patch for Netware 3.12 Servers:

This patch contains a faulty ZEROBFIX.NLM. This NLM was written to handle 0 byte files on CD-ROM drives. However, it has the unintended effect of increasing all 0 byte files on your server to the size of the default cluster. Please be advised that if you download the 312PT8 patch, you should not install the ZEROBFIX.NLM. Novell will ship an updated NLM in the 312PT9 patch.

Novell Client32 versions 2.5 and 3.01

There have been a number of questions regarding Advanced Revelation running with Novell Client32 version 2.5 and version 3.01. The problems have manifested themselves as either filing system (FS) errors or as a drop of the network connection. Revelation has been working closely with Novell to resolve this issue, and has identified that the issue is related to how network drives are mapped with the new Novell clients. We have delivered a supplemental packet of technical information to assist Novell in the research. As of 11/12/98, we anticipate that we can provide you with more information on this problem within a week; until that time we recommend:
a) As a temporary measure, revert back to Client32 v. 2.2.
b) If you must run Client32 v. 2.5 or 3.01, you can work around the problem by mapping a drive through DOS rather than using the Windows drive mapping functions.
Thanks for you patience. We will update you with information as soon as it becomes available.
