Even though the POS is doing READO, if the read hasn't locked the item first then the main terminal could, in theory, either cause a file resize in the middle of the write or could be writing an item into that group that writes across the item being read. Granted, everything would have to time pretty closely, but, hey! It could happen! <G> Other than that, I have no clue; I'll leave it to those with more intimacy with the actual read process internals (the C or ASM code) to put their 2 cents in - perhaps Aaron Kaplan.
